Apostle or Whore? The soloists of the Nuns’ Vespers bring their diverse talents to a performance piece investigating the controversial figure of Mary Magdalene. From her Gnostic characterization as beloved apostle and Early Christian leader to the church traditions of prostitute and penitent, the character of Magdalen has touched millions for millennia.
Performances of La Maddalena will be suitable for small theatre or church and will debut on the weekend of July 11 to 13, 2008, and will be available for other bookings during the performance run of the Ursuline Nuns’ Vespers from July 19 to 28… especially on the Feast Day of the Madgalen itself, July 22.
This project is produced in conjunction with the Ursuline Nuns’ Vespers.
