Birthright Moon

New Moon   November 20, 2025

I could tell of the splintered sun. I could

Articulate the night sky, had I words.

           —N. Scott Momaday

One night

will be my last

chance

to breathe

cedar cold

to pray

by simple presence

to offer

greeting to ancestor dark.

I had forgotten

this birthright

we all share.

To you, whose mind reads this, I ask:

Have you journeyed toward awareness

away from the digital electric today—

made pilgrimage to the real outside

stood still on the earth

gazed out & within

wondered, wordless

who am I now?
