Our Work

The Art Monastery is a social sculpture that produces multi-disciplinary work by a wide network of artists in Europe and the USA. Specifically interested in process as much as product, the Art Monastery takes care to provide opportunities to emerging artists who are interested in the intersection of creativity, contemplation, and community. You'll find in our portfolio a wide sampling of public performances, interventions, and installations by the Artmonks since the project's inception in 2008.

In a small town in Abruzzo, Italy, 17 artists from the United States, Canada, Europe, UK, and Australia gathered for two months to live together as Artmonks.

During the 60-day period at the Convento delle Clarisse, at the convergence of two rivers, in Caramanico del Terme, the group experimented with art monasticism: meditation, silence, contemplative movement, physical training, vocal training, communal meals, shared work, and the creation of an original evening-length dance-theater piece.

The show we created was Si Quis Sitit.
